The SnagIt Toolbar The SnagIt toolbar (see screenshot below) within PowerPoint comprises two icons and a drop down list. The icon on the left actually processes the command to do a screen capture - the second icon opens a dialog box where you can set options for a SnagIt capture. The drop down list on the right lets you choose the area you want captured.

The SnagIt add-ins help file explains all options in a detailed manner.
An Actual Capture Let me walk you through an actual capture. I want to capture some screenshots from a running instance of a web browser and insert them as new slides in an open PowerPoint presentation.
I first launch Internet Explorer and browse to the page that needs to be captured. I also launch PowerPoint and create/open a new or existing presention. [an error occurred while processing this directive] My browser is now ready for the screenshot. I get back to PowerPoint and choose my options by clicking the second icon on the SnagIt toolbar (see screenshot)

As you can see in the screenshot, SnagIt provides many self-explanatory options. You can choose to include your mouse cursor as part of the screenshot, set a time delay before the actual capture as also set output options to PowerPoint from SnagIt. The default option is set to insert captured images as part of new slides within PowerPoint. You can also choose the slide layout and to minimize PowerPoint when you click the Capture icon. The Capture function is also hotkey controlled - the default key is Ctrl-Shift-P.
The area drop-down box allows you to choose the area you want captured - such as a window, region, object or menu. Windows and regions can be captured including the entire scrollable area - an excellent option if you want to capture an entire page from Internet Explorer.
